Work in the government offices and schools were severely affected across Andhra Pradesh today as scores of employees, teachers and workers went on a pen/chalk/tool down programme over their long pending demands. The Joint Action Committee (JAC), organising the three-day programme to protest the delay in resolving their demands by the State Government, has warned of intensifying the agitation after January 24 unless their genuine demands were conceded as promised earlier.
Reports reaching here said the employees tried to observe pen down programme in Zilla Parishad office at Guntur where a review meeting on the Rachchabanda (mass contact programme) was going on in which the Collector and officials participated.
In Visakhapatnam Collectorate, work was severely hampered after employees who came in the morning just sat before the computers.
In East Godavari District, the pen down programme was being held in the Thasildar office and Collectorate and the offices wore a deserted look.
In Nizamabad and Khammam Districts, it was the same situation reports added.
