The stand-off between the security forces and Osmania University students over Telangana continued for the third day on Saturday and violence spilled on to the nearby Tarnaka-Adikmet Road.The OU authorities had declared holidays for Sankranti and closed the hostel mess. So, the students gathered for a peace march from Arts College to NCC gate around 11 am.
In no time, the march turned violent after the security forces stopped the protesters way ahead of the NCC gate. In a pitched battle around 12.10pm, the students threw stones at the security personnel who replied with a lathicharge and dispersed the protesters. Two students were taken into custody.
