Suri succumbs to injuriesDoctors at the Apollo hospital pronounced Maddela Chaeruvu Suri dead a little after 7:30 pm today. The bullet wounds in the chest and head led to systemic organ failure and the factionist died the way he lived – battling elements that he had little or no control of. With this a bloody chapter in faction politics in Anantapur has come to a much expected and tragic closure. Suri’s supporters called for a bandh in Anantapur.
Meanwhile closer to the scene of crime, the Police are of the view that the assailants were Suri’s opponents for a long period of time. They are also speculating that the assailants have made good their escape and are on their way to Belgaum. The person they now suspect is Bhanu from Anantapur. The TDP and the Communists quickly seized political mileage by blaming the government for its lack of control over law and order in the state.
Suri attacked and on death bed
Three unidentified persons opened fire on Maddelacheruvu Suri, the prime accused in the murder of TDP MLA from Penukonda, Paritala Ravindra at Navodaya Colony in Yousufguda in broad day light on Monday. In a daring attack unknown assailants pumped 5 rounds of ammunition into his body. Two bullets were fired into his chest and one into his head. A grievously injured Suri was rushed to Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee hills and as reports came in was battling for his life. Police officials were quickly on the button and dismissed the whole incident as a faction killing and assured a panicky public that things are already under control. Suri is now in ICU in Apollo and is under tight security. Leaders of all political parties condemned the dastardly attack.
