1. The lowest score by Team India in a World Cup match is 125 (all out) in 41.4 overs in a pool match against Australia in the 2003 World Cup.
2. India’s only victory in the 1975 World Cup was a 10-wicket win against a hapless East Africa side.
3. The first ton in a World Cup match was by England’s Dennis Leslie Amiss against India. Interestingly it was the World Cup opener of the first Cricket World Cup. Amiss scored 137 in 147 balls with 18 fours and no sixes, hitting the Indian bowlers all around the ground.

6. England’s late David Shepherd holds the record for putting the umpire’s cap for the most number of World Cup matches. He has stood as umpire in 46 matches from World Cup 1983 to World Cup 2003.
7. Talha Jubair became the youngest player to represent a team in a World Cup match when he played for Bangladesh in the 2003 World Cup. He was 17years and 7 days old when he bowled for Bangladesh against West Indies.
8. The record for the most number of ‘ducks’ in World Cup is shared by Nathan Astle of New Zealand and Ijaz Ahmed of Pakistan in 22 and 26 innings respectively.
9. The legendry pacer from West Indies Andy Roberts is still the most economical bowler in the history of the cricket World Cup. He has conceded only 552 runs in 170.1 overs that he bowled in 16 matches for the West Indian side from 1975 to 1983 at an economy rate of 3.24, with 29 maiden overs to his credit.
10. Twice in the history of World Cup have India lost to Australia by one run. The first was in the group stage match of 1987 World Cup when Australia gave India a winning target of 271 in 50 overs and the latter stumbled at 269 (all out) in 49.5 overs. The same happened in the group stage in the next World Cup in 1992. Australia, who went on strike first, scored 237/9 in 50 overs and India were given a revised winning total of 236 in 47 overs after a brief spell of rain. India were 234 when the last man (Venkatapathy Raju) got run out in the last ball of the game.
