Ever thought of living in a world where every task is performed by robots? Well it's no longer a dream anymore? The technological advancements that were projected in different sci-fi robot movies is about to come true. Very soon, robots will replace surgeons in the operation theatre. Starting from simple operations to major surgeries, robots will do it all.
AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) is the first hospital in India were robotic surgery was performed in 2008. Within a very short span of time this type of surgery will be quite popular here. The surgery is conducted by employing the most advanced technologies. In case of open heart surgeries, the robot will not dissect the complete chest of the patient nor will it rip the bones of the ribs to perform the operation unlike the traditional surgical process. Instead, it will perform three incursions in the patient's chest enabling easy treatment and less bleeding.
The best thing about robotic surgeries is that no risk is involved in the procedure. One of the robotic arms is equipped with a powerful camera whereas the other arm conducts the surgery with the tools. The entire surgical procedure can be viewed in HD monitor system.
