Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer IYR Krishna Rao today said there was no move to wind up the popular program of Kalyanamastu (mass marriage) being conducted since last few years across Andhra Pradesh and at other states. Denying the news reports that TTD was going to wind up the mass marriages programme, talking to presspersons here, Mr Rao said some of the trusts were merged and also wound up for administrative purposes and convenience of the donors. ''There is absolutely no move to give up the popular mass marriage program by TTD,'' he said. All the expenses for the Kalyanamastu will be met from the general fund of the TTD, he said. The Executive Officer also said that only 'desi' cow milk was utilised in the Kainkaryams (daily rituals) in the Srivari Temple at Tirumala. He said the existing privileges for all donors of amounts less than Rs one crore will continue as in the past.
