Some unidentified persons reportedly Telangana activists set fire to two buses on Friday night demanding release of the OU JAC leaders from the Cherlapally Jail.

According to the information, the miscreants set ablaze a bus belonging to Gokaraju Ranga Raju Engineering College, at Medipalli near Uppal on the outskirts of the city around midnight. They also left behind a letter demanding that the government release the OU JAC leaders from the jail immediately. Eleven OU JAC leaders went on hunger strike in jail after they were arrested in connection with some cases and lodged in the prison.

In a similar incident near Irukulla in Karimnagar district, an RTC bus was set afire. The vandals handed over a letter to the driver demanding release of the student leaders immediately. The buses were completely damaged in the twin incidents.

The police have booked cases and took up investigation.
