The Primary Education Minister, S. Sailajanath said that the APCO has come forward to supply nearly 60 per cent of the required material and the remaining would be procured from other government agencies in the State and the country.
About 56 lakh children in the age group of 6 to 14 years (up to 8 {+t} {+h} class) will be given school dresses, he said speaking to reporters here on Friday.
Dr. Sailajanath said every student will get two pairs. Each pair costs Rs.200 including stitching charges.
Good designs
Efforts will be made to get good designs for the dresses on par with private schools. “We want to instil confidence among them that they are no way inferior to private school children,” he said.
Open School results
The Minister released the results of SSC under the AP Open School Society (APOSS). He said out of 2,195 candidates who took the examinations held this November 4,146 students have been declared passed. These students will now be able to study Intermediate courses like any other student.
The Minister said that APOSS has also started Intermediate course this year and the response has been overwhelming. About 44,000 students have applied so far for the course and the last date for enrolling has been extended to January 29, 2011. The Principal Secretary, Primary Education, Chandana Khan said the State will get Rs. 2,000 crore in the next five years under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The money released so far has been used for construction of buildings, toilets and other facilities, which the priorities of the Government. The APOSS Director K. Ananda Kishore was present.
