Congress MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his family members on Thursday paid homage to late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy on his first death anniversary at the site where he was laid to rest inside the family estate in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr Jagan, his mother and Pulivendula MLA, Ms Y.S. Vijayalakshmi and other members paid homage to the departed leader at 'YSR Ghat' inside the family estate at Idupulapaya here.
Mr Jagan and a large number of family members took part in special prayers conducted at a church inside the estate.
A supporter of late Rajasekhar Reddy arranged a helicopter which showered flowers on the 'YSR Ghat'.
Congress Rajya Sabha member and YSR's close friend, Mr K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, Congress MLA, Ms Konda Surekha and her husband Mr Konda Murali were among the Congress leaders who offered tributes to late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.
Union Law Minister and AICC in-charge of party affairs, Mr Veerappa Moily, is expected to come to Idupulapaya to offer homage to late YSR.
The YSR family has made arrangements to feed about one lakh people inside the estate on Thursday. Special buses have been arranged for the convenience of the people to reach Idupulapaya, YSR's brother-in-law and Kadapa Mayor, Mr K. Ravindranath Reddy, said.
Mr Jagan, who is scheduled to resume his controversial 'Odarpu yatra' in Prakasam district on Friday, would stay in the estate till the Thursday evening. Mr Jagan would later unveil a statue of his father at Proddutur in Kadapa and would go to Porumamilla in the district to greet the newly-married son of Badwel MLA Kamalamma. He would stay at the residence of former MLA Mr Govinda Reddy for the night, sources said.
The young MP is then scheduled to leave for Giddalur in Prakasam district on Friday morning to resume the yatra, the sources said.
